Apartheid












 


SDSHH partner Paul Hoffman will represent two groups of plaintiffs in an appeal from the dismissal of human rights claims brought under the Alien Tort Statute against dozens of multinational corporations for their complicity in human rights crimes during the apartheid era in South Africa. The claims were dismissed by a federal district judge in November 2004. Opening briefs in the appeal were filed on August 19, 2005 and the appeal will be argued in early 2006 in New York.
